The week will consist of a combination of short plenary talks by participants relevant to the theme and goal of the workshop and intensive working group sessions focused on addressing specific research questions/challenges. Prior to the workshop, we aim to determine broad research topics with specific questions/challenges arising from the combination of plenary talks and follow up discussions. Relevant data will be made available for each research topic area to facilitate productive working group sessions. In the interest of collaboration, we welcome research topic suggestions and will request data from participants early this summer once topic areas have been set. The workshop is a great opportunity to share ideas, data, and modeling approaches relevant to advancing understanding of forest dynamics and climate.
We encourage researchers to extend an invitation to one or two graduate students and post-docs in their respective lab groups with research programs consistent with the workshop theme. Funding will be finalized in the coming weeks. We anticipate sufficient funds to at least partially offset the costs of food and lodging at the Harvard Forest during the workshop. Attendees should plan on arriving the afternoon or evening of Sunday, September 25 and departing the evening of Thursday, September 29 or morning of Friday, September 30. We hope to see all of you in September!
